Former World No 1 Roger Federer’s newest Swiss tourism promotional video has led the veteran to reckon it may be an “early Oscar favourite.”
The viral video features Hollywood legend Robert De Niro who is seen rejecting Federer’s invitation to film in the country, claiming it has “no drama.”

“I’m a certain type of actor. I need an edge, conflict, jeopardy. Switzerland is just too perfect,” De Niro says in the short video.

The promo puts up numerous scenic images from the Swiss countryside and mountains, and runs with the tagline “when you need a vacation without drama, you need Switzerland.”
The video went viral shortly after being published on social media, prompting fans to comment about Federer’s acting skills.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion replied to numerous posts, including one in which he opined that the video may be an “early Oscar favourite?”

Now 39, Federer took up the role of being Swiss Tourism’s ambassador last month. In earlier interviews the Basel-resident spoken fondly of spending time in his home country.
It’s also where he will return to competing in the clay season this year, starting his campaign at the Geneva Open before travelling to Paris for the French Open.
