Wawrinka Defeats Medvedev In Australian Open Fourth Round
Three-time grand slam champion, Stan Wawrinka, rolled back the years and produced some of his finest tennis to defeat Daniil Medvedev, the 2019 US Open finalist in five sets.
The Swiss player who won the 2014 Australian Open title, has been plagued by injuries the past few years, defeated the rising Russian 6-2 2-6 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-2.
Wawrinka hit 71 winners past the fast Russian, won 76% of points on his first serve and converted 67% of points when he attacked the net.
Wawrinka plays either the young Russian player Andrey Rublev or German seventh seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.
