Reilly Opelka was fined by the ATP for this bizarre reason: leaving his cap on during the trophy presentation.

“Mr Opelka chose to keep his hat on during the prize presentation ceremony,” the letter reads.

The American further slammed ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi by saying that the Italian was, “too busy not taking salary cuts while players are.”

The Dallas Open was Opelka’s third title win.

The towering American fired 16 aces past Brooksby in the final on Sunday. In the semi-final he had won the longest tie-break on the ATP Tour since 1990.

Opelka’s prior ATP titles came at the 2019 New York Open and 2020 Delray Beach Open.
