Just a while after confirming that they were back together, Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils announced that they were engaged.
The popular couple had taken a break in February, after dating for over two years. However, they revived their joint Instagram handle ‘G.E.M.S Life’ when they got back together this week, and posted videos while on a road trip.

On Saturday though, Monfils posted a photograph on his Twitter handle to announce that the pair was engaged.
“She said YES. Madame MONFILS,” he wrote as the caption.

The talented Frenchman, a former World No 6 currently slotted at 14, has not been in the best of form. He had reached the Dubai Open final last year, but after the pandemic-forced break, has lost six matches in a row.
World No 5 Svitolina meanwhile has been in decent nick. She recently reached the semi-final of the Miami Masters, losing to World No 1 Ashleigh Barty.

In an earlier round, she celebrate a win by wiggling her finger at the camera, which in hindsight, may have been an early hint about what was to happen on Saturday.
