A year earlier at Wimbledon, when 26-year-old and current World No 64 Van Uytvanck pulled off an upset win over third seed Garbine Muguruza in the second round, she ran to kiss and embrace Minnen, 23, who was watching from the stands.

“I know it was a big deal but we just didn’t think about it,” Minnen, ranked 108 in singles, had said to The Telegraph.
“She had just made the biggest win of her career and I was so happy and not thinking in that moment.”
