Mikael Ymer was disqualified from the ongoing Lyon Open after he smashed his racquet on the umpire’s chair due to an argument over a line call.
During his match against Frenchman Arthur Fils in the last 16 of the ATP 250 event, Ymer argued with the umpire over a line call and pointed out that the mark left by the ball was outside the lines.

The umpire refused to come down and check the mark and said that he had seen the ball bounce on the line.

“Why are you not checking the mark?” a furious Ymer asked. “Are you telling me you’re not even going to come down and check the mark?
“I’ve never witnessed that a ref says, ‘I’m not going to go down and check the mark.’ It doesn’t happen.”

While Ymer, World No 53, continued to play after the incident he lost his cool after Fils broke to lead 6-5 in the opening set. The Swede smashed the side of the umpire’s chair with his racquet twice. As the racquet snapped, he tossed the handle on the court.
The chair umpire discussed the matter with a tournament official, who informed Ymer he had been disqualified.
