Roger Federer confirms Basel Open participation, raising hopes of yet another comeback.
“Looking forward to playing back home,” wrote Federer via an Instagram story.

The 40-year-old has not played since losing in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon last year.

Federer underwent another knee surgery after the grass-court season and is now working on his rehab and recovery.

He is targetting a comeback at his home tournament in Basel. The ATP 500 event will be held from 24-30 October.
The 20-time major champion has won the past three editions of the tournament in his homeland, which was last held in 2019 due to the pandemic.

Federer has a outstanding overall record in Basel. He has lifted the trophy there 10 times and possesses a 75-9 match record at the event.
Earlier, Federer had confirmed his participation at the 2022 Laver Cup, to be held at in London from 23-25 September.
