Novak Djokovic will be able to defend his Wimbledon title as the Championships announced that it will allow players who haven’t taken a jab.
The World No 1 was deported from the Australian Open earlier this year.

In response, Djokovic had said that he would be willing sacrifice titles if all the big tournaments continued with this mandate.
“The requirement set out by the government to enter the UK does not include mandatory vaccination,” All England Lawn Tennis Club chief executive Sally Bolton told a news conference.

“Therefore, while it is of course encouraged, it is not a condition of entry.”
Wimbledon takes place from 27 June to 10 July.

Djokovic reached his first final of the year last weekend, losing to Russian Andrey Rublev in the Serbia Open in Belgrade.
He has played only three tournaments so far this season.

The Serb had defeated Matteo Berrettini in the final at the 2021 Wimbledon championships to win his 20th major.
He is tied with Roger Federer at 20 singles Grand Slams titles. Rafael Nadal, who won the Australian Open, is ahead in the race for most men’s singles majors with 21 titles.
