Mercurial Australian Nick Kyrgios took to Twitter to ask fans which tennis player he should compete against in a boxing match.

“Idea…. kyrgios vs which tennis player…. boxing match? Let’s go”

The 26-year-old is currently on the Wimbledon entry list, which will be his first tournament since he reached the third round of the Australian Open this year.

He has however been highly active on social media. And the latest post has had a variety of players and even a coach replying with interest.

“I’m down for a dance,” came the reply from American player Tennys Sandgren.

Meanwhile former top 50 player from Ukraine Illya Marchenko went further to name a price as well, claiming: “I accept your challenge for 20 million, easy.”

There was also a message from Naomi Osaka’s former coach Sascha Bajin, who led the Japanese player to the first two of her four Grand Slam titles.

“I’m soo in… if coaches count!!!” he tweeted.

The post received a wide range of replies from fans, though most suggested he take on World No 1 Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios had been a firm critic of Djokovic after the pandemic started last year.

He had taken to social media to lash out against the Adria Tour, Djokovic’s exhibition event. He further went on to criticise the likes of Boris Becker, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Borna Coric as well.

But Kyrgios’ history with Djokovic even got former Wallabies (Australia’s national rugby union team) player Matt Giteu involved. He tweeted: “Def against” followed by a playing card joker emoji – a clear hint at Djokovic.
