Rafael Nadal is the epitome of mental toughness on a tennis court. But the Spaniard recently admitted that he has no self-control when it comes to chocolate.
“The issue is I have great self-control inside the court. I don’t get mad. I don’t throw away the racket,” he said on the ‘El Hormiguero’ show, hosted by Pablo Motos.

“But when it comes to chocolate it’s harder, the level of self-control is different.”
The 13 French Open titles – the most by any player at one Grand Slam – may make him seem other-wordly, but he has a weakness for the sweet stuff just like the rest of us.

“I used to eat at night too. After brushing my teeth, I was back at the fridge. I’m trying to change that, make it less at night. (I like chocolate) with milk, I think it tastes better. The more ingredients the better.
“My wife hides it too. Sometimes, I find the Nutella behind the cupboard.”

The 33-year-old, who wears his ‘Spanish Bull’ insignia on his gear, also admitted to ‘crying easily’ during movies and enjoying a drink with his friends.
“During Titanic, I cried like a baby in the movies and with The Lion King there was a lot of drama when Mufasa died. I can cry easily,” he said. “I like to party and of course I drink alcohol; I like tequila.”

On a more serious note, the 20-time Grand Slam champion said that the future of tennis was here already. He believes players like Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas were ready to take over the mantle from the Big 3.
“We have to face that the newest generations are already here,” he said during the ‘Wealth Talk’ session with Santander Private Banking.

“They’re already topping the ranking and honestly we have (Novak) Djokovic in first place, me following him in second place but then Thiem is in the third place and he’s 27 and from there on well you have got (Roger) Federer of course but then you’ve got Zverev and Tsitsipas who are young.
“They’re here to stay and these coming years this is going to happen and they’ll take over. They’ll take control over everything because this is logical.”
