Nick Kyrgios has again taken to social media to hit out at a player who had taken part in the ill-fated Adria Tour in June.

This time, the mercurial Australian replied to Borna Coric’s comments about the Croat not caring about what Kyrgios thought.

“You should care. Do you have rocks in your head?” read the 25-year-old’s tweet.

“Again, you can stand up for your mates, I’m just trying to hold them accountable. When I said what I said, I didn’t intend to bother. They are tennis players, they aren’t special.”

He then went further in the same message to take a jibe at Coric.

“Just as I though Coric intellectual level = 0.”

In a following tweet, Kyrgios wrote, “Just making sure that you spuds didn’t cause more players to feel like Dimitrov. Have you read how he continued to feel after he tested negative? Or that’s too much for that brain of yours to process?”

Coric, the former world no 12, was the second player after Grigor Dimitrov to test positive for the coronavirus after participating in Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour.

The event was heavily criticised, particularly by Kyrgios who called it a ‘boneheaded’ decision, because the organisers had taken no social distancing or other safety protocols as capacity crowds were allowed inside the venue without the need to wear masks.

Furthermore, players were seen hugging and even took part in exhibition basketball and football (soccer) matches.

Subsequently, Dimitrov, Coric, Viktor Troicki, Djokovic and Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic tested positive.

Coric unmoved by Kyrgios

Now recovered, Coric asserts he didn’t care much for Kyrgios’ comments.

“I read what he wrote, but I don’t care,” he said to Croatian publication Jutarnji.

“He enjoys being a general after battle. Coming from someone else, I might have understood, but Kyrgios, it’s not really realistic.”

Shortly after the Adria Tour was called off, world no 7 Alexander Zverev was seen attending a party in France a week after he issued a statement claiming that he will be in isolation. Kyrgios dubbed the German ‘selfish.’

“It’s his style, he works like that, there is no problem,” Coric said about Kyrgios’ comments. “Zverev behaved badly, but I don’t understand the need to criticise a colleague like that. I wouldn’t have, but again, it’s Kyrgios.

“I am definitely sorry that the tournament ended that way, because we had a positive story, a humanitarian character, we played tennis after a long time and we were all happy. This made it even harder to listen to criticism later.”
